* Qualified Survey Field Crew Chief to join our team with experience in performing boundary, topographic surveys, transportation related surveys and construction stakeout for engineering design projects. Requirements: 2+ years of experience as a Jr. Party Chief performing boundary, physical surveys, topographic surveys, transportation related surveys and construction stakeout for engineering design projects. Competence in operating robotic total stations, GPS-RTK, digital leveling, and electronic data collection. Must be able to pass background checks for Federal Facilities, Drug Tests for Construction Sites, and have a current driver’s license with a good driving record. 2 or 4-year degree in Surveying or related field and CAD knowledge is preferred but not required. In addition to the basic requirements above, you should be technically sound, enjoy mentoring younger staff, and have a passion for outstanding client service.

*Survey CAD Technician to join our survey team. The Survey Technician will have knowledge of land surveying practices and procedures, survey computations and strong CAD skills. This position also requires a strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, with Carlson. In addition, the Survey Technician will process survey field crew electronic field notes, prepare field to finish topographic surveys, prepare plats, ALTA and boundary surveys, and have familiarity with highway and land development plans, construction stakeout computations and cut-sheets.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ability to handle drafting assignments with little input from supervisor
  • Reliable and able to work core business hours between 7:00am – 4:00pm
  •  Self-starter with strong time management skills Initiative to learn advanced drafting techniques
  • Desire to learn principles and practices of Land Surveying Position
  • Requirements: High School diploma or GED required
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Experienced in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
  • Carlson experience required
  • Experience with platting procedures in multiple jurisdictions in Virginia required.
  • Familiar with ALTA/NSPS Surveys, boundaries and field-to-finish topography
  • Strong background in construction stakeout
